Windows 7

Windows 7 its the new thing in computer technology but should I really put it on my computer?

I can honestly say from my own experience that new things are nice, like a new puppy or a new hamster or even sometimes a new computer and windows 7 while it is awesome and much better than windows Vista still can have upgrade problems so let me give you the facts straight and balanced the good and the bad.

THE GOOD: Windows vista was simply put "bad enough it makes windows 3.2 look good" so windows 7 is a nice change it has all the class of Vista, like the same look, windows Aero and such things but its better, along with this it has easy wireless connection. for the first time ever you can connect up a wireless internet with one click!

one of my favorite things is the look, after using windows XP for so long the start menu is new and hip. along with this the control panel is much better organized and easier to understand than any of the versions of windows before 7

along with the good is the name, lets face it, there is just something cool with a number like 7 after all 7 "eight" 9

along with all of this another plus is that 7 is not a memory hog like vista, while it runs slow on 1GB but it works!

THE BAD: I can say from my own experience that windows 7 runs good, but I have faced some problems with it on my Aspire one netbook which it did not come installed on, while it works, it starts up slow and has problems with the internet it works! which is something that vista could not claim to on a netbook

in the end the vote is in. Windows 7 is despite its weaknesses is an excellent operating system, while caution should be practiced in loading it on lower power computers (1gb or Ram or less) it is a major improvment over Vista on any computer and i would highly recommend it for anyone

and in closing, Don't do drugs.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

We decided to use the french poster, don't worry, the movie is in English too.
Everybody loves Fantasia (the first one, the only one worth mentioning mostly).  So when disney comes out with a movie called "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" I guess we might expect something similar to what they did with the movie/ride of Pirates of the Caribbean.  Sort of like putting in real people instead of Mickey Mouse and a scary Sorcerer right?  Well that is pretty much what they did, but with a happy ending.

Its a nice sort of family film, if you family doesn't mind a few bad guys getting killed by plasma, burning up, having a dragon fall on them, or the life force sucked out of them (ok, they might just be sleeping, and its not really too graphic or anything, besides the intro with the sword sticking out of poor Merlin).  Some have pointed out the similarities to National Treasure: same director, Nicholas Cage, action, a nice story, bad guys, people running around, artifacts, etc...  While true, Mr. Cage does a surprisingly good job in this one, and fits his role.

It's the cast!
The movie does have a nice tribute to the original Sorcerer's Apprentice short on Fantasia that was very well done, as well as several references to movies and some sorcerer lore (sort of like National Treasure and history, again).  They did do a nice job showing that Sorcerers like to be clever and use tricks and the like, instead of just brute force.  Besides, who doesn't like seeing the ol' Persia quick sand rug trick?

So its a nice clean film, a nice job on Disney's part, not putting in lots of the inappropriate jokes some other companies like to throw in trying to get it over the kids heads. Oh, and be sure to stay after the credits to watch a little special bit too.
